Introduction

So far, we have studied the motion of particles moving along straight or curved paths. However, many physical systems involve rotation.

Examples include:

  • Wheels of vehicles
  • Rotating planets
  • Spinning tops
  • Machinery with rotating parts

In this chapter, we extend the concepts of linear motion to rotational motion. Many quantities in rotational motion have direct analogues in linear motion.
