Space and Time

Mechanics is built upon the concepts of space and time.

Space

Space is described using a coordinate system. The most common is the Cartesian coordinate system:

$$ (x, y, z) $$

This allows us to specify the position of an object precisely.

Time

Time is a continuous variable that tracks the evolution of motion.

Position becomes a function of time:

$$ \vec{r}(t) $$

This representation allows us to analyze motion mathematically.
