Worked Example

Problem:
A projectile is launched with speed $20 \, \text{m/s}$ at $30^\circ$. Find maximum height.

Solution

Vertical velocity:

$$ u_y = 20 \sin 30^\circ = 10 $$

Using:

$$ H = \frac{u_y^2}{2g} $$

$$ H = \frac{100}{19.6} \approx 5.1 \, \text{m} $$
