Introduction

Before we begin studying motion and forces, it is essential to develop the mathematical tools required to describe physical quantities accurately. Mechanics relies heavily on vectors, algebra, and calculus. This chapter provides a detailed foundation that will be used throughout the book.

Many physical quantities such as displacement, velocity, and force cannot be described by a single number. They require both magnitude and direction. This leads us to the concept of vectors.
