Introduction

Many physical systems exhibit repetitive motion about an equilibrium position. Such motion is called oscillatory motion.

Examples include:

  • A mass attached to a spring
  • A swinging pendulum
  • Vibrations of molecules
  • Electrical oscillations

Oscillations are fundamental in physics and appear in nearly every branch, including mechanics, acoustics, and quantum physics.
