Displacement

Displacement is the change in position of a particle.

$$ \Delta x = x_2 - x_1 $$

In vector form:

$$ \Delta \vec{r} = \vec{r}_2 - \vec{r}_1 $$

Displacement depends only on initial and final positions, not on the path taken.
