Introduction

Kinematics describes how objects move. However, it does not explain why objects move the way they do. This question is answered by dynamics, which studies the relationship between motion and its causes.

The foundation of dynamics is given by Newton’s laws of motion, formulated by Sir Isaac Newton in the 17th century. These laws provide a complete description of motion for macroscopic objects at everyday speeds.
